Details & Information

We started the game so brightly and the first 15 minutes belonged to Downley, deservedly going 1-0 up through a Devin effort curled in from distance. We were hungry for the ball and passing it around nicely in the middle, particularly Kieree who looked on top form. Defence looked solid with Logan, Archie and Mekhi dealing with most attacks. After that we began to make substitutions and lost our shape a little which didn't help, Devin dropping to defence to cover Logan who had run hard.

To be fair, we were up against some of the quickest attackers in our league and they soon had the measure of our defence, getting through the channels time and time again and turning our players. All of a sudden we were second to every ball and our mids weren't able to get hold of it. Whenever the ball broke it broke to a Penn player - it was that sort of a game when not much went our way after the first 15. A penalty from Thomas gave us some consolation but 2 or 3 late goals and tired legs made the scoreline a little harsh. Penn were good and deserved the win, but not by that margin.

We could have been 8-0 up at half time to be fair. The passing was fantastic early on and Theo, Oli and Rob had excellent movement & caused havoc as a front 3 with Oli grabbing a goal and Theo also netting on his 11th birthday! Behind them Gabe in CDM and Henry CAM were a handful with steel (Gabe) and movement (Henry), the latter scoring a great goal!

Haseeb and Tiernan came on and ran their socks off. Haseeb was full of tricks and scored 4 goals and well deserved Player of the Match. Defence was solid with Lochlan strong in the middle and Jonny did well. Morris was a delight showing bags of energy and a good goal at the end. Mikey didn't have much to do but did everything well in terms of kicking and positioning.

We got a bit scrappy for a while in the second half but then finished very strongly.

What a ding dong battle this was! Prestwood are 2 divisions above Downley and we played this friendly as both our planned fixtures were cancelled.

How we found ourselves 3 goals down at half time I have no idea. Totteridge to be fair they had a few strong players, and a couple of quick forwards. We did suffer a bit with lack of pace at the back but up front we had lots of chances first half but none would go in!

Second half we had all the play but got hit with a sucker punch before mounting a herculean comeback. Nothing much changed apart from belief and getting a couple of goals gave us bags of momentum. We were surging forward and camped in their half all game. Damari (2) Jav and Igor got the goals but somehow Prestwood squeezed in another at some point so we lost the game but felt like we had won!

Ben improved as the game went on and made some crucial tackles. Abdul was fantastic in CD and defenced high up the pitch intercepting and tackling on half way, instead of our own 18 yard box! James is such a good tackler and workled hard, Harry and Ted were immense, putting in tackles, constant running and brilliant passing in the middle. Dom improved as the game went on and is so good on the ball when on form, Jav hustled and bustled then in the last 5 minutes was on fire scoring and assisting another. Stanley was unlucky not to score but got into lots of good positions, Igor is a revelation in midfield and got through so much work, playing with a smile on his face all the time. Jacobi was good in goal and pulled off his usual string of great saves. Finally Damari - a player who is really growing up this season. He’s very fast up front, strong, attack minded, good in tackle and his passing is coming on so well. Took both his goals well and probably my man of the match, alongside Ted and Harry.

Details & Information

Dragons had lots of possession in the first half with Charlie and Romao in particular seeing a lot of the ball, both breaking play up in midfield and then transitioning to attack. Devin also looked lively and had 2 shots on goal in the first 5 minutes, neither troubling the keeper though. Breakthrough came on about 10 mins when the ball pinged about in the area before Charlie found Romao with a clever poke and Romao blasted home from 5 yards.

Kieree and Thomas both took really good corners from the left which we couldn’t quite convert but then on 20 mins Charlie pinged one in from the right and Kieree scored with a bullet header – straight off the training ground which was very pleasing! All may have seemed in control, but it was not and we were really struggling to clear the ball. Clearances were pinging off in every direction other than forwards and it all culminated with a swing and miss at the far post which left their forward with an easy conversion. So we came in up at half time and the instructions for 2nd half were to a) ‘middle the ball’ and b) make more ‘incisive passes’ which had been lacking from our possession based game.

2nd half Beaconsfield had clearly spoken to their team about our lack of pace at the back and immediately they began sliding balls through and over the top for their nippy striker Jay to run onto. To be fair we mopped up well but still had trouble clearing the ball. Ethan was busy in the middle of the park and what he did he did very well - he’s such a good passer of the ball. At the other end Thomas went close with a shot over the bar and then whipped in yet another mean corner which we couldn’t quite convert. Kieree was playing very well in the middle with Romao and the two of them really hassled and harried for everything. Luke had a couple of runs on goal where he used his strength to great effect but on both occasions was thwarted at the last second. At the back we were improved a bit when we switched Dev into the middle of defence and Archie to then right.

Then out of nowhere Dev found himself on halfway and was put through on goal, only for a dodgy first touch to ping the ball towards the keeper. Somehow though Dev kept going and managed to get in the way of the keepers clearance, the ball falling to his feet for a tap in. Logan came back on for Archie and proceeded to look back to his imperious best. Passing was much better now and we were pinging the ball about really well with Thomas heavily involved on the left which was pleasing as I’d asked him to get more of the ball. This told with 10 mins to go when a right footed pass from Thomas sent Charlie racing clear down the middle, with memories of the Aylesbury miss in our minds. Thankfully all the work he’s been putting in paid off with a fine first time shot from the edge of the box which rocketed into the roof of the net!

And that should have been that but there was still time for a string of good saves from Emma (all long shots) and Beaconsfield to hit the post twice in a goalmouth scramble. At the other end Charlie attempted an overhead kick in the goalmouth and Romao probably should have had a second but skewed his shot when a better strike, or pass to Luke would have been better.

Romao took Player of the Match for a fine performance in his midfield holding role but Thomas and Charlie both not far behind.

Details & Information

Always going to be a tough game against Penn, who are probably the strongest team in this division.

We gave the team two instructions

1. The coaches will try not to direct you too much during the game - so you're going to have to think about your positions and communicate.

2. We want the defence to hold a line and push up the pitch when there's space ahead of them. It was time to get serious with this offside malarky!

And off we went, downhill against a team who looked a lot bigger and who turned out to be very quick up front. Within two minutes, Dylan was telling his teammates to stop bunching up. Which they did. Game on.

And Dylan continued to control the line - holding his players to account for whom they were marking, and leading them up the pitch intelligently. It was a strong start but against run of play in the first 10 Penn got a breakaway goal which they took well - good pace and finish up front. But we continued in the same vein, playing it around well in their third and in front of their area, and had a plethora of chances but couldn't quite scramble one in.

We were still learning how to play offside. We were usually one player too deep, keeping them onside, and we weren't keeping our width with the three defenders - they were bringing their two strikers to the right, and when Dylan was pushing on down that side, we weren't coming across to cover. Eventually that told with another breakaway goal from that side.

And so we went into the second half down but no worse for wear. The pitch had a huge slope, and we were now playing uphill which eventually told - their size and pace going downhill made it very hard to get up the field. But Abdul kept playing us intelligently from defence (he's very good at that) and the team played some great moves to get into their half. Dom managed to find Stan brilliantly in front of goal, but Stan couldn't quite find his finish.

Unfortunately, we took in another few goals, just due to their superior size and pace combined with the slope. Our guys were visibly tiring, but they kept their heads up all the way through.

In summary the score wasn't reflective and as Tom summed up for them, the team did exactly what we'd asked - communicate and play the back line. Dylan got Player of the Match for his huge contribution in that regard. I think Abdul was up there too.

I think we learned a lot in that game about playing defence - holding a line, communicating and the need to come across as a unit and not leave large parts of the pitch open. The experiment of not directing the game as coaches worked I think - they had to think and talk, and they did.

Details & Information

Despite our eventual victory this match wasn't quite plain sailing and we were up against a team who had a bit of fight. We were a bit physically stronger with Gabe, George Jonny and Tiernan all offering good presence in the tackle. Going forward we look quite sharp. Theo and Oli again on the wings had very good games - Oli more direct and looking to hit the by-line while Theo measured and passing well - both combining for a lovely goal during the second half which Oli tucked away. Theo also 'scored' a great goal taking the ball from halfway line and hitting over the keeper from the edge of the box - only for the linesman to flag for offside.

Haseeb came away with 4 goals again and is already having a fantastic season. Passing still needs improvement but then again every team needs goals and he has the knack of getting great lift on his shots and has quick feet. Jacobi was very brave and did himself no harm with some solid keeping throughout, taking a knock to the face from a goalmouth scramble which made his dad particularly proud!

Tiernan and Michael played through the middle with countless running and shooting though somehow they were blocked each time and couldn’t quite find the net. Damari ran hard all game but couldn’t quite get into the dangerous positions he sometimes does and Jonny’s great physicality in the first half tailed off a little in the second as he naturally tired.

Morris was a handful and made some marauding runs down the right. Twice he broke through and scored great goals earning him Player of the Match with Theo and Oli probably not far behind for this award.

George and Gabe both did well, and restricted Prestwood to limited chances. Both worked very hard and protected Jacobi well putting in some great tackles and moving the ball forwards. All in all it was a good day and considering we had 3 or 4 regulars missing we did well to come out handsome victors!

Details & Information

The Dragons had a good morning at Bedgrove, but we never quite managed to hit top gear. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good result against a top team who were unbeaten up to today and it could easily have been a big win, but equally they could have sneaked an equaliser.

The game started off very quietly in the first 10 mins and there was no great flow to either teams play. We did put some good pressure on their goal and Luke put in a great cross early doors which no one could get on the end of and Charlie then popped in a great corner which Logan got his foot on but couldn’t poke in. Archie Mac put in a couple of good last ditch tackles as they came at us on the break and Mekhi and Logan were both having good games at LB and RB respectively. Then Kieree came on after 15 mins and changed the game, but not before we went 0-1 down with 10 to go until half time, following a short clearance and a scrap in the box.

Kieree then signalled his intent with a long-range 25 yarder which flashed just over, then another from around 15 yards which the keeper got down low to. 2 minutes later and a beautifully weighted Kieree pass found Devin running through the middle and he clipped it past their excellent keeper for the equaliser. Then 1 minute before the break we did it again and a Thomas throw-in was nodded forwards by Charlie, Kieree got another poke through and Dev rounded the keeper to put us ahead. There was still time for Kieree to put Charlie through on the right who took it into the box before drilling a shot across goal which beat the keeper but just grazed the outside of the post.

Second half started brilliantly as our tails were up, and it was all Dynamos pressure. Romao had been reminded of his 'Matic' role and carried it out brillantly in the 2nd half, breaking up the play in the middle and playing it forwards. Luke put some good pressure on their defenders but couldn’t quite get on the end of anything despite battling really well. Archie W had a solid debut in defence and put in some good blocks and tackles building into the role well. He certainly didn't look out of place in this team, and I loved that he played with a  smile on his face. Logan was mopping up everything down the right and played the ball calmly out of defence time and time again showing signs that he's coming into some good form. With 10 mins to go however we were tiring and hadn’t killed the game, so Bedgrove smelled a chance and to their credit mounted a good fightback. Emma saved a long shot tipping onto the bar, then another which she held well. Her kicking was exceptional today and their coaches were very complimentary afterwards, despite having a super keeper themselves.

We certainly had more chances ourselves though and Thomas could easily have walked away with a couple of goals on another day. We popped him up front for the last 10 and he had 2 good chances from close range, one from a magnificent Devin cross, but just couldn't quite convert. Then Charlie floated another brilliant corner onto Logan’s head but somehow he missed from 6 yards with the goal gaping. At half time I had told them that the big instruction was to not concede in the second half - do that and we’d win the game. We did it magnificently and big props to the defenders for carrying out the instruction. It would have been easy to give the Player of the Week award to Dev for his 2 great goals, but this week it was Kieree really changed the game for us and his determined play in the middle had the opposition parents purring with compliments. Logan and Emma not far behind though I'd say.

Another solid performance and looking forward to Wendover next Saturday!

Just a mention for Bedgrove who were great opposition. Players were polite and fair, coaches were chatty and gracious and parents were really really nice. Good bunch that lot.

Details & Information

So our superb start continued away at Haddenham, and we started brightly as ever with Haseeb in his free role behind the forwards. He tricked his way into the box and was brought down from behind resulting in an early penalty. Had to take the kick twice due to encroachment but scored both times. He followed up a few minutes later with another fine strike into the bottom corner. Oli was ripping up trees down the left flank and could have had a hat-trick when 1-1 on a few occasions. Theo was hitting some nice crosses across the box, Robert very close to smashing one home. Haddenham worked hard though and got back in the game with a lobbed cross shot that Mikey managed to save only for them to stab home the rebound. We went in at half time on top though following an own goal from a cross which ricocheted off their defender into the net.

Half time team talk was all about the fact they were definitely in a game and needed to keep the focus passing and tempo going. The defence went out in determined fashion with captain Gabe marshalling them superbly. George, Lochlan and Morris all won their share of blocks and tackles while Ethan worked tirelessly in midfield really bringing the game to tiring Haddenham legs. A fourth goal came and it was a beauty Morris hitting a half volley from the right edge of the penalty box which sailed into the far corner. Minutes later Theo then picked the ball up from defence and ran the length of the pitch past 2 players before unselfishly laying off to Oli who smashed home for a well deserved goal and sealed his Player of the Match performance.

Further mentions for Robert who created some clever openings with his one touch play up front. Also Michael who was never going to be beaten unless it was something special. Henry showed great footwork and tenacious midfield play throughout. A lot of our parents commented that this was the best they had seen us play.

Details & Information

Although we started slowly we managed to keep out some early Tring pressure - with defence (Ben, Harry, Jonny and James) working hard right across the back. When Tring did get through they were met with the formidable skills of Jacobi who at one point pulled off an amazing double save.

We then scored our first goal on the break - Damari cutting in from the right and firing in from a tight angle.  When he is on fire, Damari is one of our best finishers and is already having a great season!

Tring then equalised soon after - when we were momentarily caught off guard, and then instantly we re-took the lead through Igor... only to lose it again very soon after!  A bit of a lesson here for both teams on concentration and setting up properly after a goal. Tring then took the lead and that really was a wake up call. At half-time we let them know they had at least 4 goals in them, and they duly delivered with goals from Damari, Dom, Javontae and Ismaeel!!

Ted was outstanding throughout (Player of the Match) in both supporting at the back and driving the play forward.  He seems to have found some great form and his energy and fitness levels are through the roof.

On the whole, a fantastic morning - everyone came off the pitch buzzing and pleased to get their first win under their belt.

Details & Information

So the Dragons took on Wendover away and it was a very strange feeling playing on a Saturday instead of training. We started with Emma, Logan, Archie, Mekhi, Charlie, Romao, Kieree, Thomas and Devin with Arch and Ethan on the bench. Quite a scrappy start to the game with lots of misplaced passes for both teams. Wendover looked good and I certainly had my concerns, particularly as we were struggling to really keep hold of the ball. We had a snapshot from Kieree after 5 mins then a good combo from Romao and Kieree led to another half chance. At the other end our defence were looking strong, and Archie middled a couple of clearances to give him confidence. Logan was at his absolute best and his decision making was top drawer, knowing when to kit it hard and when to control and pass his way out.

Then out of nowhere Wendover took the lead with a long shot which hit a divot and jumped up into the roof of the net when it looked like going lower. Nothing much Emma could have done about that one. We have such confidence in our ability to come back now though, and went straight up the other end to put the pressure on. Charlie tried a lob which nearly came off, Kieree had an attempted overhead kick saved and Romao hit the post from a tight angle. Devin was making some great runs down the right time and time again, most of which had end product of some sort either a shot or a cross. One run ended in a fab pass to Ethan who crossed for Thomas but his right-footed effort was saved by the keeper. Then at the other end it was so nearly 2-0 when a miskicked clearance gave them a chance on goal but Archie brilliantly recovered to make the tackle of the game. Then we got the breakthrough we so deserved when Kieree player Thomas through the middle, he held the ball up and popped it back to Romao 20 yards out who hit a sweet first timer with the outside of his boot which flew in. What a goal!

So level at half time but after that came an immense second half performance as good as I’ve seen. We gave them two clear instructions 1. to ‘take a chance’ and pop some more through balls, balls over the top, balls into the channel etc and 2. to involve Thomas more and expose their left hand flank – both of which they did really well. After 5 mins we scored when from a throw-in Charlie flicked on, the keeper didn’t deal with it and Devin had a close range chance he rarely misses. Within 2 mins we had another when Thomas took a trademark in-swinger so vicious that the keeper could only palm into his own net and on the other side Thomas and Charlie combined well for a short corner routine all of their own and from the resulting cross Dev had a big chance in front of goal which he just missed. Then another Thomas corner identical to the last and yet again it was so vicious the keeper put it into his own net again. I’m giving both goals to Thomas though – straight off the training ground!

There was still time for late drama with Dynamos attacking hard and Charlie had another long shot saved, whilst Kieree and Thomas combined well down the left to get more shots away. Mekhi was his usual calm influence on the left of defence and Ethan had one of his most effective games, really getting involved and passing and tackling well. Emma didn’t have a great deal to do but her distribution from the back was superb, and Archie W looked even more assured this week and is really starting to gel with the team gaining their respect more each week. The four rotating defenders we have are surely some of the best in the league.

The focus and attitude these guys showed really needs to be recognised, along with the level of determination on the pitch which was super again this week. Everyone wanted to get to the ball first and if they didn't then they made if really hard for Wendover. The team held their shape so well, and everyone knows their role and position and finally the character they have shown to come back after defeat on the opening day to win the next 3 on the bounce, plus coming back from a goal down 2 weeks running needs to be applauded.

Players of the Match were Logan for an assured defensive performance (could easily have been any of the other 3 though) and Devin for his play down the right wing and the end product he showed with great passing and awareness.

Details & Information

Another big victory for the Vikings against Flackwell Scorpions yesterday morning winning comfortably against a strong and physical side. Flackwell lined up very differently to some of the previous teams with some real strength amongst their ranks and a few we recognised from previous encounters. However as coaches we all felt as the game progressed that we had a much more mobile and fitter side, which proved to be the case.

First half was pretty much one way traffic for large parts with Luke opening the scoring with a lovely turn and shot in the penalty area. Haseeb drifted into the box to sweetly strike a second before Luke took a lovely penalty to take us further ahead. Oli then showed hunger to stab home the fourth in a crowded box before Theo converted a first time rebound to put us well ahead at half time.

Henry was full of energy and took us forward time and time again in the second half, finishing off a flowing move that saw Theo run down the wing and cross for Oli who smashed against the bar and Henry put in the re-bound. The rest of the second half was a little less one-way and we lost out a little in midfield as Flackwell's physicality was brought to bear. The defence was solid though - Lochlan a real rock in the middle and Gabe and Morris offering discipline and muscle in the wide positions. Both full backs were linking with their respective wingers Theo and Oli to great effect. Tiernan and Haseeb both put in a great midfield shift with lots of good transitional play, then Henry and Gabe came on to shore things up and close off the game.

Special mention for Robert who scored a lovely angled finish akin to Van Basten only to be offside. Minutes later another lovely finish from him was again offside. Both fabulous efforts and such a shame they diidn't count, but good future learning for the whole team there. Oli is showing great pace in his direct running down the left, Theo very unselfish in trying to put in a pass and cross when he can and a really solid performance again from Michael who when called upon did everything we asked of him with his decision making and handling.

Player of the Match was Henry for his tireless running, good passing and a great goal!

Details & Information

Before the match Tom and Mick gave them some clear objectives which were to communicate well with each other (no shouting from coaches during the match) and to try to use the full width of the pitch which they did very well. Ben had a turn between the sticks and didn’t have a lot to do other than in the last 5 minutes which we will come to. Jacobi player outfield and had a wonderful game in defence. He really has got great skill on the ball and he’s so calm and composed. Never smashed a clearance, always looking for a pass and great to have that side to his game when he's not playing in goal. Abdul and Dylan also played well throughout mopping up anything that did get through with Abdul often defending from high up the pitch whilst Dylan swept up at the back, and again strode calmly out of defence time and time again like a Chelsea wing-back. In the middle of the park Damari had so much of the ball, picked some good passes and made some great runs whilst Dominik could have had a hattrick by half time but each time the ball just ran away at the last second. Dom had a really solid game in midfield, with bags of tricks and flicks mostly working well.

Omarion was busy all game and is super fit, getting involved with so many of our attacking moves and Jonny was running well down the right hand side just as Tom had asked with regards to using the width, often shooting or crossing dangerously. Ted really ran the show in midfield. He was everywhere and he is just so strong. He put in more tackles than any other player and was always popping up in dangerous positions. It’s his running and energy when off the ball that makes him stand out and it really told in the second half when he played for Chesham and gave them a lot more bite. William and Damari also helped by playing for Chesham (who were 2 players short at times) and both put in fantastic shifts, William had more involvement than I’ve seen before whilst Damari ran the show in the last 5 mins and could have scored for them if it weren’t for Ben saving the day with a couple of great saves. Damari did help set up the deserved consolation for Chesham who never let their heads drop despite the scoreline which was into double figures for Downley. Stanley worked hard all game and has lots of energy but couldn't quite find the end product today despite being in the right place at the right time.

I can’t recall all the goalscorers but reckon that Damari, Jonny, Ted and Dom got 2 each whilst Omarion and Charlie got 1 and the other was an OG - could be wrong so feel free to correct me

Super performance from all players, but Damari took home the Player of the Week award for his involvement, attitude and end pruduct.

Details & Information

Location was good and the pitch was generally flat with short grass so no complaints there and there was some good football played in the first half. Early doors Charlie fed Devin on the right and his run ended in a shot inches wide of the far post. Hughenden had most of the possession and passed the ball around very well, always making themselves available. They engineered moments when they had 3 or 4 players camped on the edge of our box looking for the opening which was impressive. We were dangerous on the counter attack though and another break saw Thomas scamper down the left and pop a ball in to Kieree who held off some rough play from Hughenden but his shot was straight at the keeper. Then the breakthrough came on 10 minutes with a corner on the left from Charlie, played short to Thomas (love it) who whipped it in for a scissor kick goal from Kieree. Brilliant!

The first half continued like this with the home team having the lion’s share of possession whilst we looked to hit them on the break and again Devin had another good run on goal when put through but his touch was a little heavy. Hughenden were having a lot of joy with balls through the middle and down the left and we were struggling to deal. Their keeper also had a good kick and we were letting the ball bounce then struggling to clear the second ball. Then just before half time Hughenden finally made the pressure count. Ball through the middle, we failed to clear our lines, landed to their striker right in front of goal and he wasn’t going to miss from there.

The second half was basically an amplified version of the first. Hughenden preyed on our backline, putting two strikers right up on our defenders and feeding balls through the channels to them. For the most part we coped with the pressure and defenders did their but were not able to clear the ball up the pitch it seemed which invited more pressure and when the mids see this they come back to help out which means when the ball does go up the pitch there was no one there to hold the ball up and relieve the pressure, so back came Hughenden again. Hughenden had a lovely strike on goal after 10 minutes from distance which Emma had to stretch to make an amazing one handed save. Then a random ball into the box was not dealt with and unfortunately in was sliced into our own net for an OG. 5 minutes later at the other end we finally got a free kick which Thomas rattled off the bar and after another couple of dangerous Thomas crosses which we couldn’t convert, we then got another free kick which Thomas took and it found its way to Devin who glanced in a header for 2-2. If only the game could have finished there but sadly we conceded a penalty with 5 mins to go which saw Emma go off with an head injury after a dangerous 50/50 challenge and Romao was unable to stop the goal. Then finally in the dying seconds they added a fourth goal when again we couldn’t clear our lines in the box and it was stabbed in from close range.

Player of the match for us was Thomas who looked dangerous from crosses and dead balls all of which tested their defenders and keeper or set up opportunities.

Before the match, I had a chat to the guys about starting off the blocks quickly - previous weeks we seemed to take an age to get going.  And, good news - they seemed to listen and right from the start there was a real hunger from everyone with Hughenden on the back foot.  Momentum took a bit of a dip when Dylan got a ball in the face though once Harry came on to replace, we soon started to motor again.

Despite us having 75% possession, Hughenden caught us on the break 2/3 times though having Ben and James blocking well and all-round composure of Jonny meant that we were very difficult to break down.  Once Dylan came back on, he once again played with a lot of 'sense' and got us out of a couple of tricky moments.  The defence kept their line fantastically throughout the whole match - and alongside a couple of blinding saves from Jacobi - we managed to keep a clean sheet.

Going forward we were outstanding for most of the match.  Great effort, legs and vision from Ismaeel on the left and Harry on the right meant that most of our play came down from the flanks though we still had the unwavering strength of Jav, Igor and Omarion in the middle.

Took a while to get the first goal though came from great passing from Igor and Jav. Jav scored both goals in the first half to give us a good lead and there was very little I could say at half-time except to push up and drive forward more - oh, and to watch the offside!

Second half was the same - blistering pace going forward and real determination (and hard work) from them all.  Omarion took the third goal after a bit of a scramble in the box and Harry intercepted a clearance, cut in from the right and scored with a fantastic strike from outside the penalty area near the end!

It was a well fought battle and Hughenden weren't particularly weak, we just brought our A-game to the park - again! And the whole team and supporters were bowled over with the way they played - lots of smiles at the end of the game as they knew they were in a game and deserved the victory.

Details & Information

Big result for the Dragons on Sunday vs Tring where we ran out winners against a very technical team. Lose and we go into half term W3 L3, but win the game and we’re now W4 L2 which sounds a lot better!

The game started really brightly and Tring were clearly very well organised all over the pitch. Yet another team playing balls into the channels which is what I’d asked our lot to do more of this week, with Charlie and Luke the main central targets and Dev/Thomas out wide. Emma’s goal kicks were a big feature of the game, but especially the first half when she sent some incredible balls targeted towards our runners. She’s really got this down to a fine art and has added it to her already strong game. Tring went 1-0 up however when we failed to deal with a corner and it was tucked in. As so often this season however that sparked us into life and within a minute we were level, a quick Logan throw in was flicked on to Dev who powered through and opened his body up for a curling shot which the keeper got hands to but just fell inside the post. 5 minutes later and we were further ahead following a whipped in corner from Thomas which was neatly laid off by Charlie to Luke who lashed in from 6 yards. Kieree then came on and really stamped his authority on the game, retaining possession and making some dangerous forays forward.

Defensively we dealt with everything thrown at us and whilst we will always be susceptible to quick forwards, we stood strong and got back when we needed to. The new 2-2-2-2 formation worked well I think and we can really build on that. Archie looked commanding in CD paired with Logan and some great clearances and headers showed his improvement this week. Mekhi enjoyed his role alongside Romao in the double pivot and both broke up the play well and transitioned forwards when possible. With 5 mins to go to half time Emma pulled off the save of the season so far. A brilliant corner from Tring was floated in, their forward rose like a salmon and headed it low to Emma’s left and she flung herself at it ‘Gordon Banks’ style tipping it round the post to rapturous applause from both sets of supporters. Tring then hit the top of the bar with a long ranger before we closed off the half with another great goal. A Kieree throw in fed Charlie who span and drove forward before slipping the ball through to Luke who drilled it in low and hard at the near post – the two forwards combining well for the second time! There was still time for another great chance from a Thomas corner which Romao couldn’t quite get any power on from 2 yards out.

The second half took a long time to really get going. Instruction to the team was that although we were ahead Tring had won most of the 2nd balls and this really changed in the 2nd half when we asked for more hunger and spacial awareness. One amazing bit of play 10 minutes in saw a huge goal kick from Emma from which Charlie play a deft 1st time layoff to Thomas on the wing who whipped in a demon cross back to Charlie but he was just offside - that would have been a corker! Tring were certainly coming for us though, and if they could have found the corners with their shots then it could have been a different story, but Emma gobbled up everything shot straight at her. Eventually Tring made the breakthrough however with a  2nd goal with 10 minutes to go, when our defence were stripped for pace and their striker 1v1 just had to pick his spot….which this time he did. Looked like we were in for a nervy finish but Dev wasn’t having any of that. Great work on the right from Romao fed Devin who twisted and turned before hitting the by-line and sending in a deliciously pacey cross which Thomas rocketed into the roof of the net from 5 yards. Arms in the air for that one from Coach Ben - and that was that.

Plenty of candidates for Player of the Week including Emma and Charlie who both played well, but Luke took home the trophy for a Jamie Vardy like display of centre forward play.

Details & Information

The Colts started strongly again - however so did Marlow, a very well-organised team.  End to end stuff right from the whistle - our initial thoughts were "they're good and we've got our hands full this morning!"

However, we scored first.  Great run and shot from Harry, kept it low and hard so it went under the keeper. Then Dom scored a cracker very soon after that so after ten minutes we were well on top.

Defence held their line very well, however the midfield got caught in the trap of thinking that they could all score so pushed forward too much leaving the defenders exposed at times. Marlow's midfield also pushed forwards and all our clearences went down the middle which invited pressure back on. Marlow deservedly pulled one back soon after before Dom then went on another run to maintain the 2 goal lead at half-time.

Soon after the break, Marlow's organisation and discipline across the park paid off again and they scored the next three goals in quick succession to turn the game on its head. Marlow were increasingly hungry and wanted it more than us at this stage - and with every chance to claw back, they kept their heads up and our shoulders went down a bit! With 10 minutes to go it looked like we'd snatched defeat from the jaws of victory......

....but one man wasn't having any of that and Dom banged in an equaliser for his hat-trick following a fantastic passage of play - great passing from at least 4/5 of our players.  In the end a draw was probably a fair result all round in an end to end game.

Player of the Match was Harry who was great today and is improving week by week getting more and more involved with great running, crosses and set pieces spot on.

Enjoy the half term break :o)

Details & Information

So our 5 match winning run came to a halt against a strong Chinnor side on Sunday. The team were missing some key regular key players and although replacements came in and did well there was a definite lack of fluidity to our play.

This was always going to be a tough one as like ourselves Chinnor were on a 4 match winning run and started with confidence. Their defensive set up worked well - limiting us to only half chances at best. Ethan & Ted in the middle worked hard but couldn’t carve out any clear opportunities whilst up front we were unable to break through the big defenders. Theo, Haseeb and Henry struggled to get a sight of goal although there was a 15 minute spell where we had the lions share of possession.

When Chinnor broke out of their half their solid number 9 twisted and turned and often got a shot away - Jonny making a couple of terrific diving saves to keep it level. Unfortunately a rare corner for them was not cleared and no-one was on the back post as their player prodded home for the opening goal.

Second half saw a similar pattern - Gabe and Morris both defended well but couldn’t quite get their passing triangles going and Lochlan had a fab game at CD always showing for the tackle and managing to make some good clearances, often running the ball out of defence and looking for a pass. Igor came on and gave us some energy at times showing great potential with pace and crossing, whilst Tiernan worked hard up and down the right hand side.

With the lack of service to forwards Henry and Haseeb were being pulled back into midfield hunting for the ball, and then inevitably when the ball did go forwards and there was noone on the end of it. All of this invited more pressure and when the second goal trickled in at the near post we were up against it. A third soon followed although we revived again towards the end and got a deserved goal - Henry tapping in a great Ethan corner for a respectable 3-1 defeat.

Player of the Match was Lochlan for his great transitional play, bringing the ball out from defence time and time again.

Details & Information

Started a bit slowly whilst Risborough were quick off the mark. Week off last weekend and no training yesterday may be the cause as despite a good warm-up and a couple of drills before the match, they took a while to wake up. We unfortunately went down after about 10 mins from a long speculative dipping shot that totally threw Jacobi (and everyone else) and ball went in. Heads didn't drop and in fact, seemed to inject some energy and pace in the team. Defenders Jonny, Dylan and Abdul held their line very well.

As always, we matched Princes Risborough though our strength was on the counter-attack - driven by Ismaeel who is getting better and better every week but also Damari, Omarion and Igor who are as hard working a trio as you are likely to find at this level. Harry also worked well on the right and Jav put in a super shift. At one point, Jav flew up the left, knocked a fantastic cross in on his left straight onto Harry's head - though couldn't quite steer it in.  It was great football and the Risborough coach commented on how outstanding that passage of play was - it was magic.

Soon after h/t, Princes Risborough got a second though but we kept going and with 15 mins to Jav scrambled a goal in leaving an exciting last quarter. Ismaeel had a very strong second half and isn't afraid to use his head and Jav was looking up and passing well, naturally playing the ball in front of players when going forward which is good to see. James had a particularly solid game at the back and Stanley's energy was infectious throughout and really kept the team going to the end.

Player of the Match was Ismaeel for a fantastic performance in the middle.

Details & Information

We knew what to expect from Cookham and they didn’t disappoint. Lots of pace and passing but without the aggression which is good to see. Really good team with 3 or 4 excellent players. 5 and 10 were fantastic but 7 was the one to watch and ran the show until we put a stop to it - more on that later.

So we started brightly and it was a fairly even exchange. We played with 2 defenders again (Logan and Archie to start with) and 2 in the double pivot (Romao and Mekhi) which I think worked well to start with. We made the breakthrough after just 2 minutes when a throw in went to Dev who turned and strode forwards then fed a lovely ball into Charlie on the edge of the area who took it well and bent it round the keeper into the bottom corner. Their number 7 was a constant threat and had the knack of losing our defenders time and time again, getting into their blind spot. Every time we recovered or intercepted though and Logan and Archie were solid as a rock at the back, making excellent decisions, great blocks, good tackles and super clearances – 3 inside a minute from Archie at one point who was really on flying form and the only one which did get through Thomas somehow bust a gut to get back and get in a last ditch block.

Emma was struggling with her kicks a bit in the first 15 minutes but we told her to relax and take her time and her secret weapon came back! Wow, she has some kick when she middles it and we really took advantage of that to put pressure on them in the second period, Luke in particular being a great target man and flicking the ball on or taking down and laying off. He was constantly busy in the first half getting involved in most of the good passages of play. Emma also made lots of good saves but most were directly at her so it was all about solid handling rather than spectacular one handers. Then on 20 mins a big shove in the box gave them a 'penalty shout' but with the ball at the Cookham player’s feet the ref played advantage only for him to rattle the post. Cookham finally got the goal they deserved just before half time, when number 7 finally got clear and slotted home coolly.

Second half we instructed them to win more 50:50 challenges, more 2nd balls and try to keep the ball more. We put Mekhi on number 7 to do a man-marking job and I have to say he really excelled at this and eventually they brought him off.  Lochlan had a solid game at the back and we then pushed him up into the double pivot towards the end which he coped well with. After about 5 minutes Romao fed Dev who made a good run and shot from distance which the keeper saved. We then won a free kick all of 20 yards out which Thomas stepped up and smashed home to put us 2-1 up. Really great finish and it’s lovely to say that when he stepped up I knew he was going to score – good feeling. Short lived however as Cookham soon equalised when they slotted home from inside the area and 5 minutes later we went 2-3 down when their number 5 went on a great run down the wing and crossed in a low ball which their striker banged home. And that was about it really, the game fizzed and popped after that but no more goals and I think we acquitted ourselves well against a very strong team.

Player of the match was Archie by a mile. We’ve worked hard with him and today he showed us all what he is capable of!

Details & Information

Started really brightly with Archie and Logan in defence and Mekhi and Romao in the double-pivot role. This works better and better each week as they get used to it, with Mekhi tending to play the deeper of our two holding players. Midfield started with Kieree, Devin and Charlie and Luke played up front.

Wind was a big factor and was behind us for the first half, which meant a lot of play in their half. Quite a few through balls went too far though, although we adjusted well to this later on in the half. Really good passing from our boys this week, which shows me what I suspected which was that it was only the tougher opposition last week that blunted our passing game. We were a constant menace up front and again throw ins were dangerous which we always get chances from. Luke flicked on to Kieree who’s snap shot went wide. Charlie was fairly caught offside a couple of times but did well to get into positions, then he had a 3rd one which was more borderline but was again called off. Thomas was really busy down the left when he came on and his throw ins were amazing (with wind factor as well) which led to lots of half chances. When Flackwell did come forwards our defenders gobbled most stuff up, including Thomas working as wing back at times. Luke came off after 15 mins as we were saving him for the second half with the wind in our faces. The real story of the first half though was Charlie and Romao who were absolutely everywhere with tackles, headers and not a bad pass between them. Really dangerous through balls and great spreading of play to the wings when we could. No goals at half time.

I think we were expecting a bit of an onslaught in the second half, with the wind against us, but to be fair it never really came and if anything playing into the wind helped us. Luke came back on and he had 4 or 5 really great 1v1 chances but couldn't quite put any away. The ball was holding up in the wind and Luke was racing onto them brilliantly. No problem with his pace or strength at all but just wouldn't go in! On another day he’d have had an easy hattrick. The important thing was that his forward play was excellent and he was always in the right place at the right time. Charlie and Luke combined well and nearly scored at the near post, Luke then blazed over from 15 yards before Flackwell had a rare break which Mikey did well to get down low to. Mikey's kicking was vastly improved in the second half and he came out very well to meet the play. His communication was also excellent. Then another Flackwell break saw Mikey pluck the ball out of the air, only for a Flackwell player to kick it out of his hands and then scramble into the net. So 1-0 down against the run of play but we responded really well. So many chances came and went and then with 5 mins to go a piledriver from Kieree from 12 yards which somehow the keeper managed to tip over – I think we thought it was not going to be our day. Then with 2 to go we won a corner and Charlie sent in his best cross of the day to the far post which Romao poked in low down. Now there was only one team in it and we pushed hard the last few mins but despite a few half chances couldn’t get the winner.

Can’t fault us at the back again and Logan and Archie played really well. Lochlan was great when swapped into the pivot role which is probably his best position I think, rather than out and out defender. Kieree had a really great game, full of effort and energy but Romao and Charlie stole the show and really brought their A Game. Romao was like a wild dervish and I lost count of the number of tackles he made. When he’s got the ball he’s so difficult to get it off, as we saw in training on Saturday. What an engine this boy has! Charlie also had his best game of the season, with much better passing, good tacking and above all his heading was outstanding, mostly flick ons but also clearances. So those two both took away deserved Player of the Match awards.

On balance a draw was probably fair, but we could have taken this one.....

This was a game we should have won, then could have drawn, but somehow lost.

Started slowly and went 0-1 down looking like we would concede more. Then hit a purple patch with Oli scoring 2 and went in up at half time.

Second half started well and went a further goal up with Oli completing his hattrick. He could have had another three during our first half purple patch. His positioning and running created a lot of opportunities and it was great to see him get a few goals.

Then let it all slip by conceding 3 goals in quick succession near the end.

Archie W was awarded Player of the Match for his overall dominance at the back and fearless tackling. He was pushed all the way though by Robert whose number 10 role suited him on Sunday and his passing and more importantly, his hunger and attitude was spot on.

Other mentions for the  defenders Omarian and Gabe whose positioning and sense of responsibility was superb. Note that 3 of their 4 goals came from goalmouth scrambles following corners and the 4th from a well hit free-kick that sailed over Emma's head.

Great game to watch with real ebb and flow, but sadly not our day.

All in all it was a bit of a scrappy game, lots of ball chasing from the opposition which then seemed to rub off on us, right from the start. We scored our first two from outstanding individual runs from Jav and then Tiernan where the oppostion just stood off and watched us run through. The 3rd was much better football! Started at the back with Harry passing up the line to Dom, a couple of passes between Dom and Stanley then crossed in to Tiernan to finish it off! Great goal! Dom then scored another and we were 4 up at half time and coasting.

Somehow we lost our heads a little in the second half and AFC found a head of steam to get a couple of goals back and sow the seed of doubt in our minds. Then all of a sudden we hit a purple patch with 4 goals in 10 minutes from Ismaeel, Stanley and another two from Dom for his 2nd hattrick in successive games. Cracking free-kick from Harry at one point - heading for top right - then great save from their goalie however, we were alert to pick up the loose ball and knock it in. Again though we took our foot off the gas and allowed another 3 goals at the end from AFC which gave them a flattering scoreline, but we were worthy winners in the end.

Dom and Jav worked very hard throughout - Jav continuing to look up and demonstrate that he has more that just strength and an eye for goal. Dom's energy was relentless and he kept going throughout the match. Tiernan was very strong across the park - passing the ball really well and tracking back to support the defence when needed.

One or two amazing passages of play when they were working well as a team - using Dom and Harry to build from the back anmd Jav/Tiernan driving forward at pace!  AFC defence had no chance when that happened. James, Abdul and Ben had solid games at the back with good second touches, not just booting it up. Damari always busy and available in the middle, Stanley great going forwards and Jacobi made a few great saves and his handling and kicking were generally good.

Javontae deservedly took home the Player of the Match award for an all action forward display!

Played in a really good spirit by coaches, players and parents. We were without Thomas, Mekhi and Romao this week which was always going to be tough, and proved so in the end. In came Ethan and Michael, both of whom did very well to be fair and put in a good shift. We reverted to a back 3 given that our two ‘pivot’ players were unavailable.

Cagey start from both teams but after 5 minutes is started to open up a little with 2 successive Marlow corners, both dealt with well. Emma’s kicking was top notch right from the start this week and again we saw Charlie getting flicks in the centre which worked well last week. Charlie then squirmed through from a throw in but was well tackled, Kieree popped in a free kick in a dangerous position from which Luke was offside (again) and Kie then had another long shot which went well wide. Marlow put in a dangerous cross which was headed just wide, Devin then had a snap shot which was the keeper saved and Kie floated a lovely crossfield pass to Charlie which was collected well but the move fizzled out. Dev then made a good run and cross for Mikey which he couldn’t convert and generally we saw some lovely passing in the middle, including two sets of triangles featuring Ethan, Charlie and Mikey – very nice. Overall we were on top first half and winning the battle, but couldn’t get the goal we deserved.

Second half saw us go 0-1 down quite early when we had two chances to win 50-50 challenges in the middle and failed with both (something I had asked them to really work on before the game) then when the ball got into the box 3 more players failed to clear the ball and the close range effort gave Emma no chance. Within a minute we were up the other end and won a corner. First one was dealt with at the near post but the second corner was floated in from Charlie and Luke was perfectly placed to head in low at the near post. Classic Dynamos goal from the training ground and really looked good! Luke and Mike then combined to set up Charlie for a shot which was saved and then Kieree nearly put one in the top corner from long range again but just went over.

Then disaster struck with 10 to go, as a Marlow free kick was thrown into the box, Emma couldn't claim it and Logan accidentally nodded it into our own net. Not much more action after that other than a superb one handed diving save from Emma right on full time. The second half was in contrast to the first and we were second to most balls, didn’t win the 50-50s and struggled to really get our normal game together. I guess we ran out of steam!

Although he hasn’t had much of a mention above, Archie W was imperious throughout this match on the left of defence. He middle every ball, never pulled out of a challenge, won most of his 50-50s and his talking and effort were superb throughout. Well-deserved Player of the Match for the second week running, having won it for the Vikings last week.

Details & Information

Excellent game against Beaconsfield Colts with both sets of players playing in the right spirit in what was a highly entertaining game.

First half we showed them a little too much of the ball and allowed them to come at us. With no natural centre back we struggled to asset authority in the spine of the pitch but Morris, Ted and Rob did their level best. We retreated a bit and this left us isolated when we did break. Lots of highlights as Oli and Henry combined well but lacked the final ball whilst Theo tested the keeper after a mazy run on the byline. Shout out for Michael who when coming off his line made a tremendous low save which kept the score only 1-0 at the break. Also Omarion who played tremendously at right back and swept up any mistakes or loose balls time and time again.

Second half and we encouraged the players to pass and to think about opening up the play using width. The defence immediately did a better job with George & Gabe giving us a bit more bite and Ted winning tackles. Morris moved into his right sided position and looked a lot more comfortable. Henry was working hard and was driving forward again and again and Oli too was looking to pass his way into the box. Theo put in another good shift tracking back and tackling throughout whilst Rob started to believe in himself - finding that little yard of pace to create openings. Haseeb was also a menace and the only player to really pull the trigger and test the keeper from distance.

It was therefore no surprise when with 10 minutes to go Henry persevered down the right and crossed for Haseeb to drive in a first time volley in the 6 yard box. A well deserved equaliser. Then with time running out Theo and Rob combined for a weighted through ball to be smashed home by Oli. A great team goal and a magnificent comeback for all the lads. Big smiles on the faces none more so than Omarion who picked up motm closely followed by Gabe who put in a strong performance at the back despite feeling a little under the weather. It was great to hold out and get our first win in the blue league with hopefully more to come.

Details & Information

Holyport were only set up a few months ago – and only recently transferred to our league from Slough.  They were extremely well organised across the park – and had loads of energy and hunger for the ball from the off.

Despite this, we dominated possession and our passing/forward play was flowing superbly – with Mr T in the middle with Igor, Harry making great runs up the right and Dom chasing everything! We could have been 3/4 up after 10 mins if it wasn’t for the offside rule!! However, we did get a free kick a yard outside the box after 15 mins – and Harry stepped up to take – keeper had no chance!

After constant ‘persuasion’ from myself and all our supporters to stay onside, you could start to see the front line looking and waiting to make their runs – then a brilliant run  and shot from the right from Mr T that put us 2 up!

There was always the risk of Holyport catching us on the break and they did just that, two minutes before half-time. Like last week, the confidence grew from our back line which find them pushing up too much. Goal!

Holyport started the second half on top – however our defence held firm. We had the break for the third goal – Damari within a foot from the open goal and hit it across the goal for Dom to slot in! Holyport then came back to 3-2 to make it a very exciting last 5 mins.  All supporters and coaches getting more and more excited! Though we managed to hold on!

Good points… much of our attacking play.  Great moves up the flanks – Harry and Dom in particular. And great individual play when needed.  Johnny was on top of his game which was good to see!

Details & Information

We went into this game needing a confidence-boosting win, after a draw and two defeats in our last three matches. We were dented by the loss of Archie Mac to illness, however the return of Thomas, Romao and Mekhi ensured we put out a very strong team, and made us realise what we missed in the Marlow defeat.

We stuck with a 2+2 formation at the back but the big change was moving Devin out to the right wing where he had lots of success last time we played Wendover. Thomas was stationed on the left and the instructions to all players were to utilise the flanks as much as possible.

Straight away these instructions were implemented when Kieree played a raking cross field pass to Thomas who crossed for Luke but we couldn’t quite steer it in. Dev then released the industrious Luke through the middle who played in Charlie and despite his quick feet he poked it just wide. We saw some great tracking back from Thomas and he put in some excellent tackles, not hard but just nicking it off players with clever feet. Thomas was influential at the other end too and the breakthrough came on 10 minutes when a Thomas free kick from outside the area came back out to Luke who tapped in for 1-0. We were really firing now and the pivot players Kieree, Mekhi and later on Romao were soaking up any Wendover pressure, with Archie and Logan mopping up if needed. Luke had another good opportunity from a through ball but couldn’t find the net, and then 5 minutes before half time we got the well-deserved second, and what a goal it was. Kieree picked up the ball in our own half, pinged another cross-field ball to Thomas who raced on and just caught it in the left corner. One tiny touch to set up then a wicked left foot cross that was just dying to be knocked in and Charlie obliged with a side foot volley 6 yards out into the top corner. Roy of the Rovers stuff that one!

The second half was all Downley to be honest, other than an amazing save from Emma on 5 minutes from a point blank shot. Luke played a lovely lay off to Kieree who took a touch then fired in to Charlie who fed Luke but he was muscled out. Then Charlie tackled on half way, fed Kieree who went on a great run down the left and crossed for Dev to finish at the back post for 3-0. Dev then played a neat 1-2 with Charlie who couldn’t find the finish and Kieree again fed Luke who shot just wide. Thomas came off injured with 15 minutes to go but Kieree filled in well down the left and it was his work again which led to the final goal. Again fed by Charlie following a tackle, Kieree scampered down the left and crossed for Dev in the middle. This time there was work to do but on the edge of the box Dev beat a man and fired in a rocket which nearly burst the net.

Final score was 4-0 and it could have been more to be fair. On this form we look unbeatable and we now have two systems which define our play. 2+2 at the back and focus on the wing-play going forwards which really plays to our strengths.

Impossible to award a Player of the Match trophy as they were all superb so it was awarded to everyone!

Had a really balanced team this weekend and a nice combination of ball players, ball winners and grafters which bodes well for the season.

Robert came out of the traps on fire and he was hungry for the ball and inventive too - setting up Oli for a lovely finish early on in the match. However Tring had some players of their own and they drove at us time and time again and had a deserved equaliser within 15 mins when we mistimed a tackle and the player ghosted past and set up a nice finish. However we responded well and went up the pitch again and again as Tring played a ridiculous high line. Rob and Oli missed 1-1’s when they could have been more ruthless but Oli soon broke free again and  poked home another chance just before half time.

Although we told the boys they were in a real match they didn’t clear their lines early on and a ricocheted shot somehow snuck in off the post and past Mikey in goal 2-2. However once again we rallied and like a boxer rising to the challenge in the late rounds we had Tring on the ropes. Oli smashed home a marvellous shot for his deserved hat-trick before Theo got in on the act with a tidy finish from the right of the penalty area. Gabe smashed home another and we were home and dry and well on top.

Oli and Rob shared Player of the Match spoils - Oli for his direct pace and shooting and Rob showed  that he can add steel to his skills and had his best game for a long time - really silky at times! The defence was mostly solid - Gabe took a more central role and Omarion George and Morris rotated the full back positions and all had solid matches. Lochlan and Ethan were good in the tackle and progressive going forwards while Henry ran around like a wild dervish up front causing Tring all kinds of problems! Theo put through some delightful through balls at times and was pleased with his goal. Mikey was alert and brave throughout making some good stops and using the ball well with his delivery. A bit unlucky with the second goal too.

Word for Tring - Nice pitch - nice parents and coaches

Happy days all round!

Details & Information

Despite a valiant effort from a well organised Tring side, we were on top right from the start.  At first, Tring seemed to hold onto the ball for longer and moving it around in a more organised way, however everytime we got the ball, we went on a blistering break! Tiernan was unstoppable today and MOTM - to the point that we could not really blame him for not passing with the rest of the team struggling to keep up with him.

And it was a fantastic individual run and strike from Mr T that put us in front after 10 mins.  This was shortly followed by a cracking run from Harry on the right and a shot from an acute angle... 2-0. Tring then found a hole in our defence, starting to get a little over confident again, and got one back - they're heads were up. We then seemed more settled - Ben / Jonny working and pivoting well(!) with Dylan / James solid at the back.  Will was also blocking well and at half-time, we were well on top with another goal from Mr T for his hattrick.

After half-time, we started a bit wobbly. We lost a goal with large hole in defence but we soon settled and once again, in control - with a tap in from Dom and one final fourth goal from Mr T!

They were all shattered at the end of the match which was a good sign.  They all worked so hard today - loads of energy and determination / hunger to be first to the ball. They were also talking to each other and using the whole width of the pitch at times. Great effort all round.
