Downley Dynamoes Junior Football Club

Hello and Welcome to the Downley Dynamos

Firstly, let me start by introducing myself.  My name is Fran Lazenby and I have just completed my first season (2011-12) as Chairman of the Downley Dynamos.  I previously spent two seasons as Vice-Chairman and have also assisted as Coach with our outgoing Under 18 Youth squad.

Our Club has come a long way since its inception in 1994 and now boasts in excess of 300 boys and girls aged from 4 to 18, both training on Saturday mornings and playing matches on Sundays.  Season 2012-13 will see us running 10 squads ranging from the Under 6s through to Under 15s (see individual age group pages on this site for specific information).  The success of the Club is due to its good reputation within the local footballing community as a friendly and well organised Club.  We promote a "football for all" ethos and pride ourselves on providing a safe and fun environment for the children to enjoy their football.

Clubs such as ours would not survive without the volunteers who give up their valuable time, not only to manage and coach the youngsters but also to help with the day-to-day running of the Club, providing refreshments in the Pavilion and manning the Club Shop on a Saturday morning.  We're always on the lookout for more volunteers to help so please don't be shy in coming forward to offer your services ~ you never know, you might enjoy it!

We encourage our Coaches to complete both an affiliated FA coaching course and a first aid course and everyone involved with the Club on a regular basis is CRB checked through the FA.

Ever increasing numbers can lead to problems and, last season, excessive parking around the cricket pitch on Saturday mornings caused great inconvenience to local residents.  The car park on Mannings Field has since been extended, thanks to the help and support of the Downley Parish Council (as well as a monetory contribution from them) which has helped to alleviate the problem.  However, as a Club we would encourage parents to walk to the Common with their children on a Saturday morning if possible but, if driving is unavoidable, we would ask that you show consideration to our neighbours.

Last season, due to our large numbers, we also found ourselves struggling for training and match venues but, again with the help of the Downley Parish Council, we are working hard to remedy this with various additional sites both in and around the village.

You can contact anyone within the Club, including myself, through our Who's Who page on this website and, to keep up to date with what's happening within the Club, keep checking the News & Events page.

Finally, I would like to wish all members of the Club, both new and not so new, an enjoyable and successful time with the Downley Dynamos.
