Hello and Welcome to the Downley Dynamos
Firstly, let me start by introducing myself. My name is Neil Saunders and I have been involved with the Downley Dynamos for about 10 years now, helping to run various age groups and currently assist in the running of our Under 15s squad. I have lived in the Downley area for about 30 years and became involved with the Club due to my son's passion for football. It started by taking him along to training and, before I knew it, I was helping out!
During this time I have witnessed the Club grow, going from strength to strength, to the point where we now have in excess of 300 boys and girls taking part in training on a Saturday morning and matches on a Sunday. We currently have ten squads ranging from the Under 6 age group to Under 16s (see individual age group pages on this site for specific information). The Club prides itself on providing a fun and safe environment for all children, of all abilities, to develop their football skills.
Everyone involved with the Club is CRB checked. Our coaching is provided by a group of dedicated volunteers who give up their time every weekend. The Club supports them by encouraging them to take part in FA backed Coaching courses, starting with Level 1 and progressing from there. Then there are the volunteers "behind the scenes" who help with anything from adminstration to providing refreshements in the Pavilion on Saturday mornings and match days - all essential in the successful running of our Club. Without this dedicated band of people our Club would not exist and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing help and support.
The biggest challenge the Club faces in the coming year is to find more space, for both training and matches, to accommodate our growing numbers. We are currently looking into a possible (additional) new site near to our existing training locations on Downley Common and hope to have more information for you in the coming weeks.
We are also always on the lookout for more people to become involved. If you can help in any way, please don't be afraid to come forward as any time you can give, however small, makes a huge difference.
You can contact anyone within the Club, including myself, through our Who's Who page on this website and, to keep up to date with what's happening within the Club, keep checking the News & Events page.
Here's to a happy & successful season!
