Match Report Lee & Chris Team Vs Bourne End 7/2/10
Match One
Dynamos received an unwelcome lesson in the realities of higher division football as they crashed to their first 7 a side defeat of the season. They started the match in positive fashion and had plenty of possession without creating many clear cut chances, one exception being a stinging shot by Sidders well saved by the keeper following excellent work on the left flank by Benno.
Bourne End started to see more of the ball as the half wore on and on occasion looked threatening, but once again Dynamos were architects of their own downfall, not having learned from their last match and pushing forward mob handed, twice leaving the opposition forward alone in front of goal, both chances being converted with ease.
Dynamos ramped up the pressure in the second half, and were rewarded when a through ball once again found Fieldy on the edge of the box, his drive just having enough venom to beat the keeper despite him getting a hand to it. Sensing the chance of an equaliser, Dynamos pressed forward, long range efforts by Edwardo and Fieldy being saved and Rajat also going close with a shot to which the keeper got down well. Dynamos were then caught out by another sucker punch, when a hopeful high ball into the box wasn’t dealt with and the opposition forward accepted the gift with glee.
In conclusion, a reality check for Dynamos - all the team needing to understand that footballers at this higher level need to use their eyes, ears and brains as well as their feet.
Match Two
An improved performance in this game resulted in a morale boosting victory, although, Dynamos rode their luck at times, much to the consternation of the assembled throngs of supporters who had made the long trip to watch. Almost immediately from the kick off, a marauding run and accurate drive by Benno seemed certain to cross the line, Sidders however making sure it did from approx 3 inches - you two boys will have to fight it out for the credit for that one!
Soon afterwards, Fieldy (who appears to be running his own goal of the season competition), having already struck the woodwork, picked up a loose ball on the left and advanced towards the edge of the box, then ignoring spectators calls to square it to an unmarked Sidders launched an unstoppable dipping drive over the keeper into the top right hand corner of the net. Bourne End had a chance to reduce the arrears toward the end of the half, a cross-shot just eluding the far post following a breakaway.
Dynamos piled on the pressure at the start of the second half, however a combination of good goalkeeping, desperate defending and profligate finishing preventing any further score, one beautiful passing move involving Edwardo, Sidders, Jack and Fieldy being deserving of a goal.
Bourne End rode out this storm and reduced the arrears when a corner was deflected past Annie by an unfortunate defender. They then poured forward searching for the equaliser, Annie making a stunning save from a full-blooded drive and the omnipresent Edwardo appearing from nowhere to make two goaline clearances. On the one occasion the ball got past both Annie and Edwardo, Dynamos were saved by the woodwork.
Just when it seemed that Dynamos defence must crack, a swift counter attack found Fieldy on the left wing, and getting to the byline he delivered a cross which seemed too strong for the onrushing Rajat, however, in a move reminiscent of Olga Korbut, he acrobatically hooked the ball back into the net from an impossible angle to give Dynamos much needed breathing space (memo to Mrs Khator, get his name down for the 2020 GB Olympic gymnastics team!).
This seemed to deflate the opposition and the match petered out without further incident, in conclusion, a good win for Dynamos, but the result could have easily been very different, all credit to Chase, Birchy and Arun who stuck to their task manfully.
Thanks must go to Steve Pascoe for coaching the side in the second match after Lee had gone off to enjoy himself!
Downley Dynamos v Widmer End. 24th January 2010
Paul and Steve’s Squad
Game 1.
The Dynamos are now beginning to show more discipline and organisation and started the first game of the new year as they finished 2009 looking more like a team rather than a group of individuals.
Although the Dynamos started the strongest it was Widmer End that had the first shot on the break. It was a good shot, hit with power and height, but it wasn’t good enough to beat Thomas Owen who did brilliantly to palm it over the bar for a corner. Widmer took inspiration from their shot at goal and had another fine effort saved well by Thomas soon after.
A good solid first half for Downley although they failed to take advantage of the slope .
Soon after half time Widmer crossed the ball in to a crowded goal mouth and the defence were beaten to the ball as Widmer poked the ball between a forest of legs in to the net to take the lead.
The Dynamos of old may well of dropped their heads and conceded a further goal but not the new improved Dynamos, they kept their shape and stuck at the task. With some good strong tackling in defence and particular from Sam Carr, Downley stayed within sight of Widmer. It was a quick break from defence by the consistent Liam that led to the deserved equaliser. After a run down the wing Liam took a shot which the defence could only block for Levi to pop up in the right place at the right time to slot the ball in to the back of the net levelling the game. Downley weren’t quite finished and again broke from a solid defence but this time failed to force the ball over the line.
The game finished all square.
Game 2
News of the improving Downley Dynamos must be spreading with Widmer feeling the need to start the second half with an extra player on the pitch. However there is no fooling the Dynamos Coaching Team and the extra player was returned to the touchline. The team from the Common started as they finished the first half but again failed to force the ball through the crowded defence. A moment later there was an incident worthy of ’A Question of Sports’ what happened next? Sam Baker went in for another tackle as the forward came in to the penalty box. Sam fell to the ground and in doing so controlled the ball with his hand. The incident was seen by those on the near touchline but not by the referee who was on the blind side of play. Did he handball it? Did he mean to? Was it an accident? No matter, when most players would keep quite Sam stood up raised his hand and admitted that he had handled the ball. Penalty! The Widmer striker took a run up and blasted it straight down the middle with power but George playing the second game in goal stood tall, stopped the ball and collected it safely before kicking it down field. This was just reward for Sam’s honesty. However Widmer kept pressing and before long managed to punish Downley for failing to clear their lines and scored on the break with a goal from one of two very lively forwards. Downley were unlucky but not down heartened.
Both games showed some excellent tackling particularly in defence, good goalkeeping and improving performances from the whole team.
LEE & CHRIS TEAM MATCH REPORT
Match One
After a bright opening, Dynamos crashed to their first defeat of the season against a very good Widmer End team. Dynamos threatened immediately from the kick-off and after good work by Benno on the left, Fieldy squared the ball to Sidders who finished in style, however parity was restored soon afterwards when a low drive found the right hand corner of the net. Dynamos tried manfully to regain the upper hand, but the opposition who perhaps found it easier playing 6 a side instead of the usual 7 resisted all attempts comfortably and came close themselves on occasion to taking the lead.
The second half followed a similar pattern, Dynamos unable to get a passing game together and Widmer End always looking threatening – a through ball caught the Dynamos defence high up the pitch, but Annie was off her line in a flash to dive bravely at the strikers feet and prevent a shot on goal. Dynamos did not learn from this escape and once again with the defenders out of position a through ball found the striker alone in front of goal and this time the finish gave Annie no chance. Dynamos once again pressed for an equaliser, Daniel making several good runs down the right flank, the final pass however always managing to elude any Dynamos players in the box.
In summary, Dynamos looked uncomfortable playing with a man down, Edwardo’s powerful presence in midfield being sorely missed and a perhaps unfit Fieldy’s mobility up front not as noticeable as normal.
Match Two
Back to the 7 a side format for this game, and immediately Dynamos looked more comfortable. A bright start found Fieldy through on goal, the keeper parrying his shot straight to Sidders who finished impressively from an acute angle. Dynamos tried to press home their advantage and grab another goal, but after winning the ball deep in their own half a lovely passing move followed by a cool left foot finish bought the scores all square. Undeterred, Dynamos once again pressed forward and scored again when a corner by Edwardo was sliced into his own net by the unfortunate defender. Edwardo maintains that it was the quality of his corner that forced the error and is therefore claiming it for himself!
The second half followed a similar pattern, Dynamos increasing their lead when a superb one touch passing move involving Edwardo and Sidders found ‘Hopalong’ Fieldy in the box, his first time shot curling into the far corner. Some superb defending by ‘Berlin Wall Birchy’, ‘Right Place Chase’ and ‘All Action Arun’ kept the opposition at bay, one crunching last ditch tackle by Arun being particularly noteworthy. Widmer end scored a consolation goal near the end following a corner, despite a strong suspicion of handball which was missed by the ref, Lee ‘Ray Charles’ Priestley.
A much better performance by Dynamos in this match, all the players and subs contributing to an encouraging victory.
Good luck to Widmer End for the rest of their season.

Downley Dynamos v Pitsone & Ivinghoe
(Paul & Steve's Matches)
Game 1 - Game 1 was as they say a 'Game of 2 halves' with perhaps the slope coming out on top. The Dynamos started the game positively with a number of efforts on goal in the first half, particularly from Liam and Levi. The rest of the team contributed in a achieving a strong team performances with some excellent tackles this helped prevent any shots on target from Pitsone & Ivinghoe.
The opposition came out for the second half taking advantage of the slope to better effect scoring an early goal. This seemed to break the concentration of the Dynamos and Pitsone & Ivinghoe went on to score a further 4 goals good goals most of which were from distance leaving little chance for the Dynamos defence.
But typically of the Dynamos on the day they did not give up and managed a consolation goal using 'route one' starting from a goal kick and put away nicely by Danyl.
Game 2 - Earlier in the season a defeat like the 1st game would have led the players to drop their heads and doubt their own ability, but not today. Almost from the off the Dynamos showed their intentions with Sam C scoring the first. The visitors responded straight away firing a quick equaliser. But still the Dynamos kept to their task with a determined hatrick from Levi, another from the ever consistent Liam and finally Connor showing that if you keep going and get in to a good position you will get your reward with a goal.
All in all a very good team performance with some great tackles being made by the whole team particularly in defence from Sam C and Lewis.
It was cold morning that seemed to effect the Mums and Dads more than it did the players, even when they were on the touchlines. The Mums and Dads however were able to take advantage of 'Sally's Refreshment Stall' serving very welcoming hot drinks and very tasty Mince Pies.
(Lee & Chris' Matches)
Match 1 - Dynamos pressed forward from the off and were nearly rewarded when a fierce shot by Benno whistled past the far post. Another opportunity came his way shortly afterwards, but the keeper got down to save his low drive. Edwardo then produced a scintillating run through midfield, his shot from the edge of the box evading everyone and finding the back of the net. Soon afterwards Edwardo again intercepted an opposition goal kick, his shot being good enough to beat the keeper.
The second half followed a similar pattern, Dynamos pressing forward and restricting Pitstone & Ivinghoe to counter attacks, one of these being a mazy run and thunderous strike by the opposition player which although Annie got a hand to it, had sufficient power to find the back of the net. This was little more than a consolation as Fieldy had previously latched on to another marvellous through ball to beat the keepers dive and ruffle the net again.
No further goals were scored, this was a very disciplined performance by Dynamos against a talented side with one or two very powerful players.
Match 2 - Fantastic entertainment ensued for the hordes of frenzied spectators in this game, once again Dynamos took the initiative from the off and penned the visitors back in their own half for long periods. Dynamos took the lead when Edwardo made yet another interception on the edge of the box and fired home. Soon afterwards Fieldy picked up another defence splitting pass and steered the ball into the far corner. No more goals were scored in the first half, but special mention must be made of the "Benno Shuffle" on the touchline, his mesmerizing ball juggling completely bamboozling the accompanying defender!
The second half proved just as exciting, Fieldy once again benefiting from a through ball netted with an exquisite chip over the 6' 7" keeper! Pitstone & Ivinghoe reduced the arrears when a powerful run into the box was stopped unceremoniously by "Chopper Webb", earning Pitstone & Ivinghoe a penalty and Edwardo 2 minutes on the sidelines. Pitstone & Ivinghoe sensed the chance of a comeback, however Dynamos stuck to their game plan, albeit being reduced to 6 players and managed to stifle any threat from the opposition.
Edwardo returned to the fray and almost immediately intercepted a goal kick and returned it with interest, he then duly completed his hat-trick with a low drive through a crowded penalty area. The excellent Sidders nearly grabbed a well deserved goal with a fizzing shot which just failed to dip under the bar in time and this prove to be the last action of an excellent game.
Once again two superb performances by the Dynamos, inevitably the goal scorers will grab the headlines but two sublime performances from all the players - Benno and Sidders both inspired on the left and right wings, "Right Place" Chase, "Berlin Wall" Birchy and "All Action" Arun squeezing the life out of opposition attacks with superbly timed tackles and clearances, on the rare occasions the ball got past them, "Between the Sticks" Annie was off her line like a greyhound to smother any danger.
Special mention must go to Jack who came on as sub and looked as though he had played in the team for years!
Thanks must go to Lee, Chris, Paul & Steve and their families for all their hard work, dedication and patience this year - a Merry Christmas to all players, Coaches, Supporters and their families.

(Paul & Steve's Team Match Report - v - Seer Green - Home)
Match 1 - After a rained off training session yesterday things were different weather wise, with the sun shining brightly in the autumn sky the teams took to the pitch. But today the Dynamos appeared to be suffering from a lack of attending training as they struggled to play up the slope in the first half and were down at half time. The second half didn't bring a change of fortune with the slope and the Dynamos couldn't find the form to turn the game around.
However at the final whistle there was some good points for the coaches to work with, as Liam and Sam B had put in some exceptional performances tracking back, tackling and trying to drive the team forward. We also had some fine goal keeping performances with Thomas O (aka Peter Cech) throwing himself around the penalty box stopping some good shots and Sam C (putting in some great stops and dives that Manuel Almunia would be proud of). But the Man of the Match award has to go to Lewis for his performance at the back with tackles that "John Terry" would have loved to have said he inspired.
The final whistle gave the coaches an opportunity to restructure things and talk them through the problems from the first game.
Match 2 - Match 2 saw some improvement from all the team with George and Louis providing some resistance in the midfield and Connor and Jarrad leading the attack. Again some fine performances from Liam, Sam B and Lewis brought some hope for the faithful supporters on the sidelines. With Sam B now between the sticks, Thomas O came out to add some strength to the defence. But the Brave Award has to go to Thomas P who had to be withdrawn from the field of play having stopped a goal bound shot by taking it full in the face; result being a rather nasty nose bleed. Hope your feeling better Thomas.
Altogether a better performance in the second match, albeit another loss. Still there's always the next match. Time to put a line under this weekend and put things right in training next weekend.
Have a good week guys, see you Saturday. Thanks to Seer Green for there sportsmanship and making the morning enjoyable. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Lee's Team Match Report -v- Seer Green 15 November 2009 - Home
A glorious autumn morning saw vast crowds congregate on the Cricket pitch.....
Match 1 - Dynamos started slowly, the opposition having plenty of the ball without really threatening Annie's goal, on a rare Dynamos excursion up field, Fieldy found himself in acres of space, his shot beating the keeper but not the upright. Dynamos slowly imposed themselves on the game, Edwardo's superb through ball being flicked on by Fieldy for Sidders to finish in emphatic style. Just before half time, the opposition drew level when a defensive mix-up at a corner resulted in an own goal. The second half was very much a nip & tuck affair, neither side willing to give any quarter, on the rare occasions Seer Green managed to get past 'Cast Iron' Chase and 'Berlin Wall' Birchy, the impressive Annie was out to smother any danger and get the team moving forwards again with her accurate goal throws. Just as the game appeared to be heading for a draw, the human dynamo Sidders knocked an exquisite through ball to Fieldy, who took a touch before firing past the despairing keeper into the far corner. This completed the scoring, all in all a very tight game against a good Seer Green side, the result being in the balance until the last moments.
Match 2 - Dynamos got off to a flyer in this game, Edwardo getting forward to block an attempted clearance which rolled agonisingly back across the line. Soon afterwards, a long ball found Fieldy in space on the edge of the box, he expertly opened up his body and steered the ball past the keeper into the far corner. Dynamos failed to capitalise on their bright start and allowed Seer Green back into the match - a good left foot finish reduced the arrears, then some slack marking at a corner allowed an unchallenged shot into the roof of net.
The second half was once again a cagey affair, goalmouth action being at a premium - Seer Green almost took the lead when a shot grazed the left hand post, almost immediately Edwardo latched onto a goal kick to blast an accurate shot back past the retreating keeper. Seer Green pressed again for an equaliser, however, Chase caught the opposition pushing forward with a defence splitting ball which Sidders ran on to and buried past the keeper. In conclusion, once again a match in which the result was in the balance until the last seconds, Dynamos found it tough against a physically imposing Seer Green team, and as a result it was a performance a bit like the Curate's Egg - good in parts. All the team worked very hard, Benno on the left and Daniel on the right putting in good shifts, Mohsin had one mazy run which nearly opened up the defence, and Rajat ran his socks off when called upon, as did Sidders once again, if only someone could find a way to attach him to the National Grid, I'm sure he would solve the UK's energy shortages for the next 20 years!
Sunday 11th October 2009
(Paul & Steve's Team Match Report -v- Gerrards Cross & Fulmer 11 October 2009 - Away Lee's Team Match Report -v- Gerrards Cross & Fulmer 11 October 2009 - Away)
Match 1 - Match one saw Dynamos face up against an old friend and player (Artum). It was nice to see he is still enjoying his football and after talking to his mum the reasons for his transfer became apparent (they only live five mins from Fulmer - a much better arrangement). The match was an enjoyable display of football by both teams, with some great individual and team play capped off with a great goal from our left back Louis. Unfortunately the result didn't reflect the great team performance, as Dynamos finished on the loosing side.
Match 2 - Match two saw the Dynamo's take to the field with confidence and a great team spirit (after an inspiring Team talk by Steve - mental note must get Steve to give all team talks in future!!). Dynamos pressed from the beginning and despite some pressure from Gerrards Cross & Fulmer they took the lead through a well made goal which started with Thomas at right back threading an accurate pass through to Sam B who had his shot blocked only for Sam C to follow up and score. The team then put into practice what they had learnt in training for the past couple of weeks by defending well and getting between the opposition forward and their goal. The team defended as a unit and special congratulations goes to George for a fine "John Terry like" performance at the back. Well done to all the team - keep up the good work.
A grey autumnal morning saw the team travel to Fulmer to play 2 matches on a very damp pitch
Match 1 - Dynamo's dominated possession, Annie being a virtual spectator in their goal & this was rewarded when Fieldy notched a well taken goal. Some desperate defending prevented any further scoring. In the second half Fulmer had two good chances to score but both went narrowly wide, Dynamo's then scored again through Fieldy & despite several near misses, including a fizzing drive by Rajat, this proved to be the last goal. The whole team were very solid with Aran making several good clearances.
Match 2 - Dynamo's pressed from the off & were rewarded when Edwardo steered a well taken shot into the far corner. Soon afterwards, Fieldy latched on to a through ball to add another.
The second half did little to calm the spectators nerves, a defensive mix-up allowed Fulmer to reduce the arrears & there then followed a sustained period of pressure by the home side who forced several corners, taken with ferocious power - a couple of shots struck the woodwork but Dynamo's held firm.
Fieldy robbed a defender near the corner flag and crossed for the superb Sydney to apply the coup-de-grace. Edwardo capped a fine run through midfield with an accurate finish into the corner and late on Benno went close to adding to the tally with a rasping left foot drive which grazed the far post, but no further goals were scored.
It was a very impressive team performance by the Dynamo's, who appeared to reap the rewards of putting out a settled team - Chase and Birchy were solid at the back, Bradley showed commitment & Sydney must have covered every blade of grass on the pitch!
Sunday 27th September 2009
Sunday saw Dynamos head out on their first road trip of the season, with a trip to Aston Cliinton. Once again the good September weather saw the crowds flock to watch an action packed morning of Junior Football. Both teams participated in some action packed football, which made for an enjoyable mornings entertainment.
Dynamos proved to the coaches that they have been listening and taking on board all that the coaches have been saying during saturday training by putting in a good alround team performance. There were also some good individual performances by some of the squad including a fine penalty save by Sam, but unfortunately the rest of the team obviously either hadn't expected it to be saved or they don't understand what happens when a penalty is saved; as they all stood there and watched as Aston Clinton managed to squeeze the rebound in despite a fine second stop by Sam. Mental note to coaches - Work on Penalties!! Good Luck to Aston Clinton for the rest of the season.
Sunday 13th September 2009
Sunday morning welcomed the opening U8's fixture which saw the Dynamos entertain Holmer Green Minors. With the presence of a warm sun in the sky the crowds came flocking in, it was even noted that at one point we had two members of Downleys Community Support Police Officers in attendance to control the crowds.
The pleasant weather and charming company of Holmer Green made for an enjoyable morning of football which saw Downley open the season with two wins and two draws. The matches were of top quality football played by both clubs and tehere were goals applenty scored by both sides to keep the vast crowds entertained and hopefully keen to return for every home fixture.
Good luck to Holmer Green for the rest of their season and we hope to see you at your ground later in the year.

Six - a - side
At the beginning of June the Under 7s (as they were then) had their first taste of six-a-side tournament football , when we entered two teams in the Wendover tournament. It proved a big success, albeit for the weather (apologies we obviously forgot to tick the box on the form which said "Dry and Sunny"). Despite the barrage from the elements the children really enjoyed the day and held there own against teams from all around the area.
A big thank you to all the parents who helped out on the day.
