Under 9 Football

The Under 9 team is for players who, from 1st September, will be in Year 4 at school.  The team is managed and coached by Mark Worrell and Richard Collins, with assistance from Steve Empringham and Nick Bowden. Training in 2009/2010 starts on September 5th.  All old and new members are welcome – we look forward to seeing you!

Training

Training takes place every Saturday morning, 9.15-11.00 on Mannings Field (turn left on the corner just past the common - pitches behind the car park).
We start promptly at 9:15am. Players should ensure they turn up on time in order to ensure they are properly warmed up and do not miss any of the instructions for the training routines.
All new players are welcome. Please bring non fizzy drinks and suitable clothing and footwear for all conditions, remembering it can be quite bracing on top of the common. All players must wear shin guards for their own safety and boots should have studs, not blades.

Important Note to Children

• Being part of a team means supporting your team mates and those involved in your club. Make sure you read the club code of conduct and understand it. You should also make sure your parents read it too!

Important Note to Parents

• For new starters, we recommend that parents or guardians remain on the field during the session until your child has become familiar with the routine. Even then, having parents/guardians on site supporting the children during training encourages them to develop their skills and practice at home. The encouragement you have given to date is the envy of many other clubs.

If you are unable to stay

• Please make sure you have left a contact number with the coaches so you can be contacted if necessary. We would also be grateful if you could ensure that you return at least 10 minutes before the end of training to ensure the children are collected promptly.

Finally, your assistance in even the smallest way in respect of setting up and clearing away the equipment before and after each training session is enormously appreciated!

22/11/2009 – Dynamos win cup thriller!

Dynamos U9s came through an exciting cup match with Penn & Tylers Green on Sunday in dramatic fashion.
The tie was reduced to 2 games rather than the usual 4 due to awful weather conditions, however as the clouds eventually drifted away the supporters who braved the wind and rain were treated to 2 excellent matches. Dynamos looked to be going through until the last minute of the team ‘A’s game when Penn pulled a goal back to make the aggregate score 3-3.

This meant a penalty shoot out and as players and parents watched anxiously from the side, it was the Downley players who held their nerve to win 3-1. Many thanks again to everyone who stayed to watch, and also to the Penn & Tylers Green players and coaches who played their part in two great games.
