The Under 13s team is for players who, from 1st September 2016, will be in Year 8 at school.
The squad is managed by Nick Rainbird (FA Level 1 Qualified Coach), assisted by Tom Harrison. If you are able to assist the team in any way, be it collecting money & registration forms, setting up or clearing away, please let them know ~ all offers of help are always very gratefully received!
2016 training for the U13s will start on Saturday 27th August from 9am - 10:30am at the Mannings Playing Fields on Downley Common (see map and directions on the 'How to find us' page)
Training is held every Saturday morning during term time, starting at 9am sharp at the Manning's Playing Fields, Downley Common on grass pitches. Sessions finish at 10:30am. Please try to have the players with us on time as the warm-up is an important part of the session. Please also try to ensure they have a good night's sleep the night before and a decent meal at least 1 hour prior to training.
The training ethos is simple. We try to ensure that every player has as many touches of the ball as possible during the session. We try to play 2 or 3 'matches' during training and our aim is to make these small sided games so the players have more touches, attempt more tackles (although that is not important at this age) and hopefully score more goals. The rest of the session is made up of 2 or 3 drills in which the players will usually have a ball each. They are encouraged to try and use both feet for passing, running with the ball etc.
What to wear/bring
Players should wear suitable shirts, shorts, socks (usually Replica Kit) and football boots on training days with warm clothing depending on weather conditions. Players are expected to wear clean studded boots (moulded or screw-ins depending on the hardness of the ground) and the club recommends 'NO BLADES' due to the potential dangers associated with them so please bear this in mind. SHIN PADS are compulsory. Please also bring a soft drink (NOT FIZZY) and a small snack for your child as there will be regular breaks for refreshments.
Important Note to Players
Being part of a team means supporting your team mates and those involved in your club. Make sure you read the club code of conduct and understand it. You should also make sure your parents read it too!
Important Note to Parents
We ask that parents or guardians remain on the field during the session. Having parents/guardians on site supporting the players during training encourages them to develop their skills and practice at home. The encouragement you have given to date is the envy of many other clubs.
Subs & Player Registration
Subs for the season are due in two installments, £45 at the start of the season and £40 in January. Therefore could you please bring your Subs along to the first training session so that we can collect them in and submit them to the treasurer as soon as possible. On a match day we charge £2 subs to help cover the cost of the referee and running matches. This is to be paid to either your coach or one of the parents who offer to help out on match days. It is your responsibility to come forward to pay these fees and your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.
If you need to talk to the club about Subs, or anything else for that matter, please feel free to discuss with any of the coaches or club welfare officers in strict confidence.

Training during the school holidays
Training will take place on the 1st Saturday of either the half term or end of term holidays and will resume on the 1st Saturday after school has reopened.
